Anonymity is absolute
Students communicate with you under an auto-generated alias (e.g. Student-A47). You will never see their real name, email, phone, school, city, or any other identifier. You agree not to ask for, infer, or attempt to discover any student's identity. Doing so is grounds for immediate removal and legal action.
Confidentiality of conversations
All messages exchanged through MindBloom are confidential. You will not screenshot, photograph, transcribe, repeat, summarise, share, or discuss any student's message, assessment data, or situation with any person — including friends, family, classmates, social media, AI tools outside the MindBloom platform, or other volunteers — except as required by the safety-escalation clause below.
Limits to confidentiality (safety)
If a student communicates intent to harm themselves or others, or describes ongoing abuse, you must:
- Encourage the student to call/text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or 911 immediately.
- Use the in-app Escalate action so the MindBloom safety team is notified.
- Stay with the student in the chat until escalation is acknowledged.
Scope of practice
You are a peer counsellor, not a licensed clinician. You will not diagnose, prescribe, recommend specific medications, or offer therapy. You will encourage students to involve a trusted adult, school counsellor, or licensed professional whenever appropriate.
Use of AI suggestions
MindBloom may surface AI-drafted reply suggestions to help you respond. You remain fully responsible for every message you send. Review, edit, and only send suggestions you personally endorse.
Data handling
All conversation data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). You will only access student data through the MindBloom volunteer portal. You will not export, copy, or store any student data outside the platform.
Mandatory reporting
Where applicable law requires mandatory reporting of suspected abuse or imminent danger, MindBloom's safety team handles all reporting. You agree to cooperate with the safety team and not contact authorities directly using student information.
